We hope you and your families are safe  and remain healthy.  This “new normal” is definitely not normal, and Apex we’ll do all we can in assisting you and your clients to navigate the legislative changes   As you all know, on 3/27/20, the CARES Act (including the Payroll Protection Program) was signed into law.  Along with the FFCRA, this bill significantly impacts how payroll, taxes, and payments will be processed moving forward.  At Apex, we’re doing everything within our capacity to ensure you can effectively service your client’s needs with minimum administrative burden.

As for the FFCRA, we’ve worked with a number of our payroll service bureau , including some members from the Apex Industry Leadership Council to develop a response  to meet the requirements for the new Extended FMLA, Emergency Paid Sick Leave, and Tax Credits aspects of the legislation.  Our Apex team members have been working late nights and through each weekend to deliver the legislative changes..

Again, thank you for your patience, as the legislative changes have been very fluid.    Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to provide clear instructions on how to handle the new legislation on our platforms and will communicate with you updates along the way

Some of the many changes Apex has implemented to help you handle the new legislation:

        • Custom earning codes for types of leave described in FFCRA (COVID19, COVIDFMLA, and COVIDSICK2/3)
        • Tax credit sub types to calculate the leave types described in FFCRA (COVID19, COVIDFMLA, and COVIDSICK2by3)
        • CARES tax Deferral tax credit subtype to handle employer FICA tax deferral
        • Total Payroll Expense by Month report for submission to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) under the CARES act
        • Apex conducted two townhalls regarding CARES Act info. As well as one video JUST on PPP.

Our training team has been working hard to provide documentation and videos on how to prepare you and your clients for the FFCRA and CARES Act legislation. They have put together how-to guides as well as step-by-step videos to walk you through these new system features.

Apex HCM has some great partners. Some of them have posted valuable  information for the payroll industry.
